President’s Word
‘Brains of Brilliance’ was founded in June 2016 after years of recognizing that some youth did not understand their value and full potential. While experiencing a very modest lifestyle growing up in Gary, Indiana, I always dreamed of making a difference. When I was a teenager, I remembered asking the right questions, but didn’t receive a lot of right answers. Throughout my young years, I made many mistakes, experienced unspeakable pain with friends and loved ones and had numerous failures, but with the presence of two great mentors in my life, I began to shift my mindset. I survived many obstacles that could have killed me and broken me mentally, spiritually and financially; however, through spiritual growth and healing, I realized there was a greater purpose for my life.
President’s Word
As a devoted mother, sister, friend and alliance, I understand that the village has to come together to uplift our youth in any area possible. I see similar struggles in this generation that my generation also experienced; the main difference is this generation is more exposed to the “World” and can be more naïve to reality.
President’s Word
It is my belief that consistent teaching and mentoring will assist our youth in reaching short/long term goals as it relates to their education and careers. I believe all goals can be achieved with the help of the positive leaders of the community. Our youth are the future political leaders, doctors, lawyers, bishops, speakers and teachers. It is our responsibility to direct, teach, motivate, support, encourage and listen to them.
Our youth will have one responsibility in the program: show up and participate.
President’s Word
Today, I am a successful entrepreneur and accountant at one of the “Big Four” firms in the world. I am here to give back all that was poured into me and spoken over me, as without the great mentors in my life, I can’t imagine my life today. The future vision is for today’s mentored to return, testify how the Brains of Brilliance changed their lives and become mentors to the next generation.
We all have work to do and none of us are perfect, but let’s continue to strive for perfection, one day at a time. Our future is watching us.
